Good Bye Yahoo Site Explorer

Good Bye Yahoo Site Explorer

As Per The Recent Yahoo Post, Yahoo Shut down the "Yahoo Site Explorer" From Monday (November 21st).

Its a very shot announcement that i can even post it here! :P

"With the completion of algorithmic transition to Bing, Yahoo! Search has merged Site Explorer into Bing Webmaster Tools. Webmasters should now be using the Bing Webmaster Tools to ensure that their websites continue to get high quality organic search traffic from Bing and Yahoo!. Site Explorer services will not be available from November 21, 2011."

i think this is good news for SEO people that they only have to concentrate now on Google and Bing.

Bing Webmaster Tools has much of this information, with the big exception of competitive linkage data, which is a huge exception.

so whats your view on this??

Googlebot got ability to execute AJAX - JS For indexing

Just read the news in labnol.org about the indexing of FB comments in Google search! and now just a some moments ago, Matt Cutts confirmed on twitter that Google is now able to “execute AJAX/JS to index some dynamic comments.”

here is the screen shot of that tweet!!
Google Can Now Execute AJAX & JavaScript For Indexing

so now GoogleBot, has the ability to read comments in AJAX or JavaScript, such as Facebook comments or Disqus comments and others that are dynamically loaded via AJAX or JavaScript. In addition, this means, Google is better at seeing the content behind more of your JavaScript or AJAX.

As people were talking and expecting about the AJAX - JS indexing, and Google confirmed that!! Google knows what user wants, better then any one else!!!

PR: Building Blogger Relations Is No Easy Task

Sometimes in marketing and in particular public relations, we learn through trial and error, not only the stories and activities that would grab peoples’ attention but also what can simply fall flat as a flapjack.
With that said, one sure way of realizing success is by being open and comfortable with feedback.
Let me tell you a little story about what happened to me this summer.
The Start
journeyWhen I was hired by CEO Jeff Goronkin to be the marketing director for his start-up, one of my first tasks was to create a strategic marketing plan. This was quite the undertaking. Of course, my second task was to carry that plan out and make it happen. Pressure!
One section of the strategic plan involves reaching technology and marketing bloggers to try and garner some play online. I figured we could work to get ourselves interviewed by some big named bloggers (think Penn-Olson!!!) and really make a name for ourselves in the tech community.
I was excited about this project and immediately began crafting a press release because, well, that’s what I’ve always done when pitching traditional news media. I snagged a list of top notch bloggers (thanks to Guy Kawasaki) and went to town contacting each and every one.
I figured that pitching to bloggers had to be somewhat similar to pitching traditional media, but in this case there would be no phone calls placed to schmooze editors and reporters because the online community prefers communicating online!
My ace in the hole has always been personal connection. So I began a generic email and attached my press release.
Some bloggers were very kind, probably too kind. Others, however, really gave it to me. I’ll never forget when one told me to take my release and shove it. At first I became defensive, and wrote back messages defending myself. Then I listened and heard what they were trying to point out.
They have different rules
blogThis was not the world of journalism, but rather the world of blogging and different rules applied.
Most bloggers said the press release and email were too formal and they really just wanted to get to know me and about my company. So, I changed my tactic. I started to provide them reflective feedback about their blogs, give them information about my endeavor and then took the extra step of “friending” them on Facebook.
Basically, I personalized the whole experience, which was my strong suit in the first place.
The blogging community can be an excellent place to share your story. However, take a page out of my book on your tactic. Spend some time and really check out the blog you are pitching and then make your correspondence personal. At the very least you’ll make some new business contacts, maybe a few friends and a chance to create lots of buzz.

Snoop Dogg is the Doggfather of Social Media Experts

@SnoopDogg just got into my “celebrities that know the true value of Twitter” group. Not that I have a real group. I personally think not many people understand the true power of what social media can actually bring to them, unlike Alyssa Milano, Cory Booker, Aston Kutcher, etc.  Charlie Sheen is not in the group at the moment. He’s too wild for me to handle.

After watching the Twitter official birthday video, Snoop Dogg caught my attention when he talked about him following Martha Stewart and why he followed her. Recently, I read an article from the man himself, saying that Twitter has changed the relationship between artists and fans and why he encourages artists to be on it, as he believes that it is one of the biggest developments he has seen.

Lesson 1: Have a relationship with your fans/customers first

“I feel it’s the number one key in music right now. Having that relationship with fans where it’s not based on your record label, it’s based on you”, says Snoop!
This is what Twitter is about. I realized this when I started to use it in 2009. It is not about “what I ate for breakfast”. That is basically what people who have not used it before would say. People who have not use it, will always say “why would I want to read what people had for lunch?” This is not true. I’ll send them to @Alyssa_Milano’s and SnoopDogg’s twitter feed in the future.

Lesson 2: Build TRUST on twitter and people will buy from you

“That’s way more important nowadays to me because that’s what the industry is broken down into –trust”, Snoop adds.
The second most important criteria not only on twitter but also on social media, is TRUST. Trust plays an important role because people who don’t trust you won’t buy from you at all. Snoop Dogg understands this as well when he said
If I trust you and have a relationship with you, and you are telling me you are putting a record out and it’s going to be good, I’m going to buy it because I trust you”.

Summary from the other dog (me)

Twitter or social media starts with having a relationship with your customer or with people first. It is not about going for the sale straight away or posting your tweets after you registering an account.
Start with building a relationship in order to build trust. When people have built confidence in you and have trusted you, they will buy from you. Something that Snoop understands very well and behind the reason why he is on Twitter, is the fact that Snoop’s goal wasn’t just to build attention; it was to build a relationship with his fans.
