Facebook has confirmed the new feature saying it’s currently being tested on a small group of users. A Facebook spokesperson writes, “This feature looks for certain phrases in the text of feed stories and combines them into one story if it finds matches. It’s currently being tested with a very small percentage of people.”
It looks like Facebook is able to scan both the text of one of her friend’s status updates, a joke that talk-show host Jimmy Fallon made, and my post where I share an article about Fallon, and understand that we’re both talking about the celebrity. It then says both the friend and I “mentioned Jimmy Fallon,” with the words “Jimmy Fallon” linking to Fallon’s public Page on Facebook.
